Services Catalog

🚧 Coming soon — in development. This feature is being built and is not yet available in your workspace. This page previews how it will work so the team can prepare; check the app for what’s live today.

What is a service?

A service is a reusable, priced item in your FlowQi catalog that describes work you sell — for example “Web Development”, “UI/UX Design”, or a fixed “Website Setup Package”. You define each service once with a price and a price type, then reuse it across your invoices and budgets instead of re-entering the same work every time.

Each service has a name, a category, a price, a price type (hourly or fixed), and a description. A service is also either active or inactive, so you can keep services you no longer sell out of everyday use without losing them.

Where to find the Services Catalog

Open the Financial Management area (/finance-management) and go to Services in its sidebar. The page is titled Services Catalog — “Manage billable services and pricing” — and lists every service in your workspace, with a search bar, filters, and a Create Service button.

The services overview

The list shows one row per service:

ColumnContent
Service & DescriptionThe service name with its description underneath. A colored dot marks the service active (green) or inactive
PriceThe price, with a tag showing the price type — Hourly Rate or Fixed Price
CategoryThe service category, shown as a tag

At the top of the list you can:

  • Search — search by service name or description.
  • Filter by category — Development, Design, Consulting, Management, Packages, Marketing, or Training.
  • Filter by price typeHourly Rate or Fixed Price.
  • Sort — by Service Name, Price, or Category, ascending or descending.

The Services Catalog is shared across your whole workspace. Everyone works from the same set of services, so your pricing stays consistent.

Price type: hourly or fixed

The price type is the heart of a service — it decides how the price is read:

  • Hourly Rate — the price is a rate per hour. You bill it by multiplying the rate by the hours worked.
  • Fixed Price — the price is a single, fixed amount for the whole deliverable, regardless of the hours it takes.

In the catalog the price type shows as a tag next to the price, so you can tell at a glance whether a service is billed by the hour or as a package.

Use Hourly Rate for open-ended work like development or consulting, and Fixed Price for packaged deliverables like a setup package or a training workshop. The right price type keeps your quotes and invoices honest.

Active and inactive services

Every service is either active or inactive, shown by the colored dot next to its name in the list. Mark a service inactive when you no longer offer it — it stays in the catalog with its history intact, but signals to your team not to use it on new work.

Using services on invoices and budgets

The catalog is the source for the services you pick elsewhere in FlowQi:

  • On invoices — when you add a line item to an invoice, you set its Type (Service or Product) and choose a Service, then enter the quantity and unit price. See Creating Invoices for the full line-item flow.
  • On time budgets — a service is the priced work you plan and bill against a budget. Its hourly or fixed price feeds the budget’s figures. See Time Budgets for how budgets are billed.

Because services are pre-configured with a price and price type, your team always starts from a consistent list instead of re-entering the same work and re-deciding the price each time.

Permissions

The Services Catalog follows your workspace access. You need to be signed in to your workspace to view, create, or edit services, and all services belong to that workspace only. If you don’t see the Create Service button, ask your administrator about your access.
